Meet the Wheelbuilder and Mechanic: Dave Walker

I started out as an Army Officer, studying at Sandhurst before enjoying a fantastic 16 years service. The Army instilled in me discipline, and a gritty determination to push myself and team through the tough times.  I found cycling in my early 20's, immediately falling in love with the freedom to explore far from your own doorstep and the gratifying ache in your legs after a hard ride. Some decent time trial results brought selection for the Army Road Race Team, traveling up and down the UK to compete in British Cycling Stage Races.  Over the years I managed to take a couple of Army Championships titles and the Combined Service Road title.  My forte was rolling courses with nothing too steep, but selective enough to get rid of the pure sprinters. I invariably worked as a domestique for other riders, something I took great pleasure in.

Now settled with my family in the heart of beautiful Cheshire, I’m an active member of my local cycling club and still managing to get on the odd podium.

I take pride in using the highest quality tools at the truing stand and in the workshop to ensure that wheels are built to the highest of tolerances and customer bikes are treated with the care they deserve.
