Custom Hand-built Wheelsets
Custom hand-built wheels, made to measure in Cheshire. Every wheelset I build is laced by hand and tailored to your weight, your bike and the way you ride — not mass-produced to hit a price point. I've been building custom wheels since 2010, after I got tired of breaking factory wheels in sprint finishes and road races, and I've built hundreds of road, gravel and mountain bike wheelsets for riders across the UK since. Whether you're after a lightweight climbing set, a bombproof gravel build, or a winter training wheelset that shrugs off British roads, I'll spec it around you and build it to last. Prices start from £375, and every wheel is precision-tensioned, stress-relieved and backed by a full warranty.

Why hand-built wheels?
Factory wheels are built to a budget and to an average rider. Yours won't be. With a hand-built wheelset, the rim, hub, spoke count and spoke gauge are all chosen for your weight and your riding — so the wheel is as light as it can safely be, or as tough as it needs to be, instead of a one-size-fits-all compromise. Just as importantly, a hand-built wheel is repairable. Break a spoke on a factory system wheel and you're often waiting on a proprietary part that may already be discontinued; break one on mine and it's a standard spoke I can replace and re-tension the same day. That makes hand-built wheels cheaper to live with over the long run, and far more sustainable.

How every wheelset is built
Every wheel is hand-laced and stress-relieved, then trued and tensioned to precise tolerances. I use professional spoke tension meters to check and balance the tension across every spoke — a step most workshops skip, and the single biggest reason wheels fail. Spokes don't break from being too tight; they break from being too loose, or from uneven tension that fatigues the metal over thousands of rotations. Getting the tension even and correct is what turns a box of parts into a wheel that stays true for years!
